Thoughts:
Okay, okay. I know. I’m more or less a year late in watching and reviewing this amazing drama. π
I originally wanted to watch this when I found out about it in ABS-CBN. However, things happened (thesis…) and I never got around to it. I already know it’s one of those dramas I’m sure to love considering how it caught my interest the moment I saw one scene.
And I wasn’t mistaken.
The drama combines rom-com with fantasy and a few heartbreaking moments. The mystery that surrounds Mi Ho’s condition also added flavor to it. So in my opinion, it’s practically an all-in-one. Plus, the songs they used are amazing. π
Here’s what I absolutely love about it:
1. The lead actors, Shin Min Ah and Lee Seung Gi, exudes all kinds of adorableness. Their facial expressions are so vivid that it’s easy to know what they feel and relate with them. I could watch this drama for all the cuteness these two could show us. And that cuteness doesn’t even seem forced. π
2. The story was, in a way, unpredictable. There’s a concept of death and that’s definitely one of the things that makes a drama less cliche. It’s not a new story, yes (we’ve probably seen that kind of plot in some stories before), but at least it’s different from most of the popular dramas these days.
3. The ‘other guy’ in the love story is not the typical good guy who makes the viewers want to choose him over the main lead. I still believe he’s a good guy and his character development is realistic. I feel for his pain and his mistakes but I hated him when he forced his beliefs and ‘righteousness’. I’m happy he found some inner peace in the end.
4. The supporting characters. I absolutely love Byung Soo. I’d love a friend like him. I didn’t really like the character of Sun Nyeo but if Byung Soo likes her then so be it. The grandfather, the aunt and the director are funniest to watch. I practically laughed out loud every time I see them all together, especially the aunt-director couple. =)))
5. The story was written by the Hong Sisters. Which meant cameos. Yiiieee. I get to see characters from You’re Beautiful and that’s just too much treat. π
What I didn’t like about it:
Eun Hae In. Not only because she’s a bitch. I didn’t like her because she’s the usual calculating bitch that’s a common ‘other girl’ attribute. Too much cliche, I think. Couldn’t she have been different?
All in all, this drama gets all the stars from me. No boring part at all and that counts a lot–especially since this is a Korean drama. Admit it. Sometimes, Korean series end up having some lagging parts. π
P.S.
I found Lee Seung Gi’s speaking voice so different from his singing voice. I didn’t recognize that he sang Losing My Mind and Starting Now, I Love You until I did some research about the soundtrack. =)))
