Many students have accepted the challenge . But only one group could make their campaign a reality.
News Facts
- This competition aimed to generate simple yet innovative ideas that can touch and improve people’s lives.
- Currently enrolled college students (in groups of 5 to 7 members) from Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan and Pamapanga were qualified to participate.
- Participants were asked to create a project plan to address a health and wellness need, problem or opportunity for a particular community of their choice.
- Twenty-one chosen participants then attended the Ideas Positive Workshop held last September 23-24, 2010.
- An Awards Ceremony for Finalists were then held on September 25, 2010 at the Unilab Bayanihan Centre in Madaluyong City where the five finalists presented and defended their project plans in front of a panel of judges.
- The judges for the finals of the competition were ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation president Dr. Ed Morato Jr., Philippine Medical Association president Dr. Oscar Tinio, Hapinoy’s Mark Ruiz, Ogilvy & Mather’s head of country Randy Aquino, Unilab’s Bert Manlapit, and UP Manila College of Public Health Dean, Dr. Nina G. Gloriani.
- The program started at 9:30 in the morning and ended at around 4:30 in the afternoon.
- The hosts for the event were UAAP courtside reporters, Job de Leon and Riki Flores.
- At the end of the program the schools of the five finalists were finally revealed. There were two teams from the University of the Philippines Diliman, The PET Society and UB & G; a team from the University of Sto. Tomas, CLPH; one from De La Salle University-Dasmarinas, SERVE; and one team from the University of Asia and the Pacific, Team BIGGKAS.
The winning projects received these particular prices:
3rd place: P50,000 seed money, and iPod shuffles for each member (CLPH, UST)
2nd place: P50,000 seed money, and iPod shuffles for each member (UB & G, UP Diliman)
1st place: P100,000 seed money, iPod shuffles for each member, trip to Boracay (Team BIGGKAS, UA&P)
